Today I want to look at the words of Jesus in Mat 24:37-39 “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away.” That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
Jesus inferred that the story of Noah is a shadow or symbol of how it will be when He comes back at the rapture, so I want to look closely at this story, and make comparisons to the rapture.
Noah was chosen to be saved from God’s wrath because he was found to be righteous. Gen 7:1 “The LORD then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. “
At the rapture, Jesus is coming to save the righteous from His wrath, as we see in Rom 5:9 “Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! ” Only the righteous will be taken up in the rapture.
In Gen 6:13 God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.” Today we have exactly the same situation, the earth is filled with violence. Child abuse, child exploitation, abuse of the elderly, domestic violence, sexual slavery, racial hatreds, religious hatreds, criminal violence, etc. and wars everywhere we look.
In Mat 24:38 Jesus also says “People were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark” That is also a true picture of today, amidst all the violence around us, there is still a level of normality, and revelry, so this is also an accurate picture of today’s world.
Noah and his sons were building the ark for about a hundred years, and during that time they would have been warning the people of what was coming, The same thing is happening today; God’s servants are building His church and warning people of what is coming. The people in Noah’s day probably laughed and said, “yeah yeah, we have been hearing that now for decades.“ Today the world is saying “yeah yeah, we have been hearing that for centuries.“
Noah was taken into the ark and the door was shut by God, BEFORE judgement began to be poured out. At the rapture the “True Church” will also be taken BEFORE judgement is poured out. With Noah safe in the ark, the ark rises up on the waters, right up above the earth, up above the mountain tops and into the clouds. The Church abides safely in Jesus Christ, our ark, and we shall also be taken up above the earth and into the clouds, just like Noah, and like in Noah’s day, judgement will begin when the True Church is safe with Jesus.
Jesus deliberately pointed to Noah in Matt 24 37 as a type or shadow of things to come. The Bible is full of types and shadows, like Noah and the flood; like Jonah in the belly of the whale; like the snake raised on a wooden pole to bring healing to those who looked on it in belief; like Moses smiting the rock in the wilderness and water gushing out, (Jesus our rock); and many many more.
These types and shadows of things to come, all show that there are different dispensations, at which time the type or the shadow becomes the reality. But if you do not accept that there are different dispensations, then you cannot accept that the majority of the Bible is to be taken literally, therefore these types and shadows become meaningless. In the other doctrines on the Rapture, the story of Noah loses its significance, because it doesn’t fit into their Mid Trib, Pre Wrath, or Post Tribulation doctrines.
We must always remember that the teachings of Jesus were given to the nation of Israel, before the Church even existed; how can you then apply them to the Church? Doing so causes a huge number of contradictions to occur between the teachings of Jesus, and the teachings of the apostle Paul.
The majority of Jesus’ teaching concerns the tribulation period, which does NOT apply to the Church. For example, Israel is told that Messiah is coming back to the earth WITH His saints at the end of the Tribulation. The Church however, is told Jesus is coming back FOR His saints, to take them to be with Him in heaven forever.
Jesus speaks of the “Times of the gentiles” Luk 21:24 “And they (Israel) shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all the nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times (dispensation) of the Gentiles be fulfilled.” Jesus even names Jerusalem, and is clearly speaking to Israel if you read the context from verse 20 & 21, but Post “Tribbers” say, NO, this applies to the whole world, including the church.
Jesus said Mat 16:18 “And I also say unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock (or revelation of who Jesus is) I will build my church; and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.” But in Rev 13:7 it says “And it was given unto him (Antichrist) to make war with the saints, and to overcome them:” Antichrist does prevail against the Tribulation saints, but he is unable to prevail against the Church.
King Solomon was probably the first to teach that there were dispensations for every thing, see Ecc 3:1 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:“ If you read the whole chapter it makes it very clear that God has set dispensations (set times or appointed times, as for household duties) for everything. We also saw clearly in PART ONE that both Jesus & Paul clearly speak of dispensations.
I feel it is time to wrap this up as I believe that I have made very clear the dangers of the other doctrines eschatological beliefs, and I could go on for weeks about this, but I feel it would be of no further benefit.
Let me summarise what we have discussed so far.
Nah 1:2 “He reserves His WRATH for His ENEMIES.” Jer 46:10 For this is the day of the Lord God of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries. Eph 5:6 “The wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.”
So if you go through ANY part of the tribulation period, starting from the first seal to the seventh vial or bowl, then the Bible says many times in both OT and NT, that you are an enemy of the Lord. My view is that the “True Church” is NOT God’s enemy and therefore will NOT go through any part of the tribulation period.
Mat 6:31-33 shows there is no need for “Prepping” (i.e. stocking up years of food, guns, gold, ammunition etc. etc for the tribulation period) As Matt 6:31-33 shows, “prepping” is only done by the unbelievers out of fear. Zep_1:18 says “Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in The Day of The Lord’s wrath;”
We also saw that we cannot be purified any more than we have been, by going through the tribulation. 1 Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from ALL SIN.
In Rev Chap 6, we saw two very important things. 1. It is the Lamb of God opening the seals and sending His judgement upon the earth, not the Antichrist, nor wicked men; and the fourth seal alone costs the lives of one quarter of earth’s inhabitants. 2. God’s wrath is acknowledged in Rev 6:16&17 where we are told that God’s wrath has ALREADY come; Past tense. God’s wrath began when the Lamb BEGAN opening the seven seal judgements, NOT at the seventh trumpet as some doctrines suggest.
In Part Two we saw that before the Rapture there would be a major falling away from the faith; and the major Revival following, comes as a result of the rapture during the Tribulation.
Also, we saw that the first resurrection (which includes the Rapture) comes in several stages, every man in his correct order or time.
Another thing we noted was that Jesus coming for His Bride, cannot be the same as the Angels coming for the surviving remnants of the tribulation, as the “Post Trib” doctrine teaches. (They are mixing Israel up with the Church again).
We also discovered that the 7 th Angel sounding his trumpet, is NOT GOD sounding HIS trumpet, as other doctrines state.
We closely examined the fact that the 24 “Elders” at the beginning of the Tribulation in Rev Chapter 4, must be human beings who have already been resurrected/raptured, judged and rewarded for their works, as they are seated on thrones around the throne of God. We researched in detail who these “Elders” could be, and found in Rev 5:10 that they had been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. From this research we concluded that the 24 Elders can only be “The Church, the Bride of Christ” as no other persons or beings fit the description.
Finally we compared Noah and the great flood, as being a type or shadow, & therefore symbolic of the Pre Tribulation Rapture, and we found the two match each other perfectly.
I trust these thoughts and insights help you to better understand God’s love toward us, and the wonderful future He has for us, just around the corner.
Mar 13:33 “Take heed, watch and pray, for you do not know when the time is.” However — 1Th 5:4 “But you, brothers, are not in darkness, that the Day should overtake you like a thief.” You will not know the day nor the hour, BUT you will certainly know the season. God Bless.
