A Time for Everything.

I have said many times in my posts that we need to be prepared for the rapture to take place at any time.   I have also said many times that God loves anniversaries; He is the God of  “A time for everything, and a season for every purpose under heaven” Eccles 3:1.    I have also mentioned that the next Jewish “High Holy Feast” day on the Jewish calendar as yet not fulfilled by Jesus, is the “Feast of Trumpets” Yom Teruah which is the Jewish secular New Year’s Day 1st of Tishri, as opposed to their Religious New Year’s Day on 1st of Nissan.  Jesus has fulfilled the first four of the High Holy Day feasts already at His first coming.   It is expected that He will fulfill the last three at the Rapture and / or at His second coming.

I want to share some thoughts I presented at church last Sunday, which highlight the importance of being ready at any time for the rapture to occur.   I was reading a book by Dr. Chuck Missler, an ex NATO scientist and a Bible scholar for whom I have immense respect, as his teachings are very sound and scripturally based.    He made the case for the fact that although most prophecy scholars today have more or less decided that the rapture will occur during the “Feast of Trumpets” that he believes there is just as great a case for the rapture to occur at the feast of Pentecost.

His reasoning is sound and bears much consideration.  I also heard the same reasoning used by Dr. J R Church (Now with the Lord) a few years ago, and I thought at the time it was not something to be ruled out.    Dr. Missler pointed out that Enoch, the son of Jared, father of Methuselah, Great grandfather of Noah was born on the very day which later became the “Day of Pentecost”. Not only was Enoch born on the day of Pentecost, but he was the FIRST person ever to be raptured, and we know that he was raptured on …… his birthday, “The Day of Pentecost” 

We also know that the “Age of Law” or the “Dispensation of Law” as it is often called, was suspended on the “Day of Pentecost” and the Church was birthed on the very same day; the “Day of Pentecost”

As earlier mentioned God loves anniversaries, and Pentecost is one of the anniversaries that God has chosen as a “Feast Day” to be remembered every year on the exact same day, the 6th of Sivan on the Jewish calendar.   So the “Day of Pentecost” is actually a quadruple celebration.   1. The first ever rapture of a living saint took place.   2. It celebrates the Birth of the Church, the Bride of Jesus Christ.   3. It celebrates the suspension of the dispensation of Law, and   4. It celebrates the commencement of the “Age of Grace” or dispensation of grace in which we now live.  

It is the time given for the gentile nations to be able to come to Jesus Christ for salvation and cleansing through believing on Jesus Christ, and repenting of their sins.   What an anniversary that would be if the rapture were to take place on the same day as the first ever rapture took place;  The day the Church was born;   The day Age of Grace was instituted;   The day the Holy Spirit was given to the Church;   The day the very first disciples were “Born Again” of the Holy Spirit.

This year the 6th of Sivan falls on the 12th of June, next Sunday. If it were to happen on Sunday, are you ready to meet your King?       The following quote comes from Dr Chuck Missler,  (2014-08-03). It wasn’t the nails. At any time, He could have said, “Enough already, I’m out of here.” But He didn’t. It was His love for you and me, His Amazing Love that held Him there. He was born of a woman so that we could be born of God. He humbled Himself so that we could be lifted up. He became a servant so that we could be made joint heirs with Him.

The Heavens cannot contain Him. Man cannot explain Him. The Pharisees couldn’t stand Him, but soon learned they couldn’t stop Him. Pilate could find no fault in Him. I have often thought that the Feasts of Israel were given to the Israelites, not to the Church, and I have commented on this in past posts.   If the next feast to be fulfilled by Jesus is for the Jews, rather than the Church, I’m sure that He has that all sorted out if we, the Church, are no longer here on the earth.

The Holy Spirit was given to the “Church” on the “Day of Pentecost”, and is therefore a day to be celebrated by The Church, as the Holy Spirit came on that day, not only to “indwell” God’s children, but also to “empower” us to live for Him. I believe that this is a Church anniversary if ever there was one.

Do you think God may have anniversaries for the Church that He would celebrate in this amazing way?   Well I believe it is very possible, and I truly hope it is a “Birthday Present” to the bride of Jesus from His Father, and our God.   Mat 24:36  “But of that day and hour no man knows , no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.”  —   “Go, get your bride”,  Whoooosh and we are gone.   Although I do make sure I am ready every day, I sure do intend to be ready next Sunday!    What a birthday present, what an amazing anniversary, what a celebration that would be!!!

However, if that is not God’s plan, make sure that you know your King; make sure that you know your Spiritual Bridegroom to be.  He will not be marrying anyone He does not know, or anyone who does not know Him.    Make sure that you are ready every day of every week of every month, every year.   Remember Jesus said “Occupy till I come”  whether that is tomorrow, next week, next month or next year, it doesn’t matter.     “Always be ready!  You don’t know when the Son of Man will come“.  Mat 24:44

Of Dispensations and Pre Tribulation.

I have noticed recently that “Dispensationalists and Pre Tribulation Teachers” have been coming in for some harsh criticism from anti dispensationalists, and anti pre tribulation teachers, so I thought I would give my reasons as to why I am both a Dispensationalist and also a Pre Tribulation believer. I will not however be engaging in criticism of other Christians, as I do not believe that is God glorifying, but I will be stating my beliefs and backing them up with scripture, and I will make comments on why I do not accept some of their allegations against us, or some of their beliefs about the timing of the rapture.

I believe that there are time periods set by God for certain things to take place in the plan of God.   These time periods are called dispensations.  The word dispensation comes from the Greek word “Oikonomia” which means the order or running of the household.    You could say dispensations are like agenda items, when you complete one agenda item you move on to the next.    To my way of thinking if there are no dispensations, the Bible becomes a book of contradictions, mysterious to the uninitiated, and difficult to understand, whereas in fact it is God’s revelation to us of His plans for mankind.

Revelation means to reveal, or to disclose, to make clear and understandable.   Without dispensations the Bible becomes a minefield for Christians, and a paradise for non Christians of every other religion and or persuasion, it becomes a book where men have to put their own interpretation on much of what God is saying.   It becomes a mystery not a revelation.

I think that there are some things which apply to one dispensation but not others, and that there are some things which apply to all dispensations, but without dispensations, you have a big mess of contradictions.  I believe and note here also, that dispensations are taught in the Bible, and a classic example of this is found in Eph 1:10 where it says “That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:”   In this verse we can see clearly that there will be another dispensation called the fullness of times, which appears to come after the Millennial dispensation.

Dispensationalism is also seen in the writings of early Christians such as Paul, as seen above in Eph 1:10, it is also used by the Apostle Paul in 1 Cor 9:17, and again in Eph 3:2 and Col 1:25.   It is also noted in the writings of early historians such as Justin Martyr, (A.D. 110-165), Iranaeus (A.D. 130-200)   and Clement of Alexandria (A.D. 150-220) to name just a few.

Contrary to most other theological beliefs, Dispensational Theology believes that Israel and the Church are two distinct entities, operating in two distinct dispensations.   I am convinced that although both have had special relationships with God, they are not essentially one and the same.   Israel as a nation, is not and never was the church, and the church is not and never was the nation of Israel.   There are Israelis and Jews in the church, and in fact the church was founded by Jews.   When we gentiles become Christians, we are grafted into the family of faith, the father of whom was Abraham, father of the Israeli nation, but we are not grafted into the nation of unbelieving Israel!

When comparing Israel and the Church in the Bible, the word church is never seen or used in the Old Testament, and it is never seen or used after the Rapture takes place in Revelation 4:1.

I believe that it is only with dispensations that you can take the Bible literally.    Without dispensations, much of the Bible has to be interpreted according to what men think God meant rather than by what the Bible actually says.      Dispensationalists realise that there are many parts of the Bible which are allegorical, but we believe the majority of the Bible is literal, and we can see that so far, all the fulfilled prophecies have been fulfilled literally, and that those currently in the process of being fulfilled, are also shaping up to be fulfilled literally.

Allegorical passages of scripture are usually easy to recognise, such as parables and poems etc. but allegorical interpreters are very often seen to be at odds with each other, having different interpretations, because different people will always have different views on what the passage might mean.

Without dispensations you cannot have a Pretribulation Rapture.   The Pretribulation Rapture depends entirely on a literal interpretation of the Bible wherever it makes sense to interpret it literally.     Without a Pretribulation Rapture you must have God pouring out His wrath and judgement upon Himself, because He is dwelling in true believers in the person of the Holy Spirit!  That would not make sense at all.   Neither would God pouring out His wrath on the Bride to be of His only Son, who gave His life to cleanse and purify her make any sense.   God is NOT about to pour out tribulation of any type, nor His wrath upon Himself or the Bride to be of His Son!

Will the church go through tribulation?  ABSOLUTELY!    The church has gone through tribulation from its beginning, and much of that tribulation has been terrible and unbelievably cruel.   The inquisition was a time of terrible tribulation when millions of Christians were slaughtered for their faith in Jesus Christ.   The Communist countries butchered millions of Christians when they came to power in Russia and China.   Millions of Christians have been butchered by Moslems since the day Muhammad began the religion of Islam right up until today.

Much of the church is going through terrible tribulation right now in Moslem countries, in China, in India, in North Korea and in over 120 other countries around the world today.    But it is Satan and not God who is pouring out his wrath on the church today.    Satan knows that his time is up, and because of this his fury is being unleashed upon God’s people all around the world and it is spreading rapidly to the rest of the world.

Billy Graham’s Warning to American Churches: ‘Prepare for Persecution’

The Rev. Billy Graham has issued a written warning to America’s churches: “Prepare for persecution.” The renowned preacher and founder of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association penned a commentary that was posted on his website last week and is slated to appear in the November edition of Decision magazine.    His son Franklin Graham wrote “Persecution and targeting of Christians isn’t just in Iran or the Middle East, it’s right here in America,” wrote Franklin Graham.

I believe that if the Lord does not come back soon for His bride, that we shall soon see Christians in Australia being targeted by the world for our stand against sins of every type, most notably same sex marriage and sexual perversion of every type.   You can see it already beginning to build here in Australia as it has already in America.   But Jesus said, ‘If they hate you, remember they hated me before they hated you,’ (John 15:18).”

The accusations made by anti Pre Tribulation rapture teachers that we are afraid of tribulation, is to me both ridiculous and repugnant.   The belief that True Christians will suffer the wrath of God in the tribulation, is unscriptural and nonsensical.   Jesus has paid the full price for our sins; to have God pour out His wrath on True Christians, is to say that God was not satisfied with the sacrifice of His own son on the cross, and so Christians must pay a bit more.    That is not what the Bible says.

Yes, we must prepare ourselves for persecution and tribulation, but at the hands of wicked people who are driven by Satan, that has been the portion of the church from the beginning, and will be until Jesus comes back for us.

But persecution and tribulation do NOT come to the True Church from the hand of a loving God who says in Rom_5:9  “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”  And again in 1Th_5:9 “For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.”

 

Of Days & Dates, Times & Seasons.

Now that the Feast of Trumpets has passed for 2015, I would like to pass on a few thoughts Of Days & Dates, Times & Seasons.   Those of you who know me well, will know that all my life I have taught that Jesus could come at any time of any day of any year to take His Bride to be with Him in Heaven.

Also, I have always acknowledged that God is a God of order, a God of mathematical precision, and a God of anniversaries.     This means that it is highly likely that there are some days, some dates, some times and some seasons, which would more likely fit the timing of the “First Resurrection”, perhaps better known to many as the “Rapture of the Church” than other days, dates, times or seasons.

Let me say right up front however, that although I have acknowledged that some dates, times and Jewish High Holy days may be high on the list for the possible return of Jesus for His Bride, I still very much believe that He can come back at any given moment in time.    It does not have to be a High Holy Day.     My reason for affirming this, is because “The Church” has never been given any signs that have to happen before the Lord returns for His Bride.    There are no prophecies which have to be fulfilled before the Lord comes for us, rather the opposite, Jesus warns us over and over and over again, to be ready, watching and waiting every moment of every day, for at such a time as we think it won’t happen, that will be the very moment that the Lord will call us away from this earth.  Not only Jesus, but Paul and Peter also reiterate the same warning.

There is currently a lot of talk about all the things that will happen during this coming week until the 23rd of September this year, which is of course “Yom Kippur” the “Day of Atonement”.    And many are now putting forward the 23rd September this year as a possible day for the “Rapture” to take place.   What do I think?   Yes, I think it is very possible, but I also think that the 19th, 20th, 21st or 22nd are also possible.   We cannot put God in a box and say it has to be so, or it has to be thus, God says when you least expect it will be when it happens.

Many believe that the Feast of Trumpets will be the day it takes place, because Jesus fulfilled the first four of the Jewish High Holy days on the exact day they were normally observed by Jewish custom, through His death, His interment in the tomb, His resurrection, and Pentecost, so it seems logical He will fulfil the next High Holy Day on the exact day of its observation.   I do not disagree that that could be the case.     But I would like you to consider the following.

The High Holy Day Feasts and festivals were given to the Jewish nation to observe when God gave them the Law.   The Church is not under the dispensation of Law, we are now living in the dispensation of Grace.    When God takes up the Jews again, as He has promised so many times throughout both the Old and New Testaments that He will do in the last days, the dispensation of Grace will then be finished, and the final seven year period of “Jacob’s Trouble” also known as the 70th week of years in Daniel Chapter 9, and also known as “The Great Tribulation” in the book of Revelation, will commence some time after that, maybe days, weeks or years, no one knows for certain just how long after.

I believe that it is very likely during this seven year time period of Jacob’s Trouble, that the Lord will fulfil the final three High Holy Day Feasts; (Rosh Hashana), “The Feast of Trumpets”, (Yom Kippur), “The Day of Atonement” for national Israel, when they will return to God, and He will be their God again, and they will again be His People, as so often promised in the Bible, and then finally, (Sukott) “The Feast of Booths”, when God comes and dwells amongst His people.

I have not ruled out the possibility that the “Rapture” could very well take place on one of these Jewish High Holy Days, and then be replicated again during the “Time of Jacob’s Trouble”.     As we hear politicians so often say “I’m not ruling anything in, and I’m not ruling anything out, ALL options are on the table”.   That is my position, Jesus could come today, and I doubt very many would be expecting that.

Yom Kippur is the most holy day of the whole year for Jews.   It falls this year on 23rd September, and as previously mentioned, there is a lot of speculation by Christians that it’s possible the Rapture could take place on this day, so I want to look at Yom Kippur a little from both the Jewish and Christian perspectives.

I find it extremely interesting that the term Yom Kippur is written in the plural in Hebrew. Yom Ha-Kippurim.   This could be because Yom Kippur was observed every year during the dispensation of the Law.     Rabbi Irving Greenberg explains that Yom Kippur “goes beyond the elimination of sin to the renewal of the individual.”    https://www.biblicalperspectives.com/books/festivals_2/4.html     Isn’t that interesting now?    When will we Christians be renewed?   At the Rapture!      Rom 8:22 “For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.   v:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.” We are all waiting for the renewal of our bodies.     Maybe Yom Ha-Kippurim is plural in more ways than one, maybe it is plural in its dispensational aspect also.   The Nation of Israel however will not be renewed until the “Second Coming” of the Lord, at the end of the time of “Jacobs Trouble”, and even then it will only be a physical redemption of the Nation of Israel, it will not be a resurrection, or a Rapture.

The Day of At one ment means at one with God.    At the Rapture that is what shall happen, we shall all be at one with the Lord.   And it will take place as a sequence of events.   Jesus was the first, then, along with the dead in Christ, we shall be next, then maybe next will be the “Two Witnesses” or the 144000 Jewish Evangelists, and then the Tribulation Saints, all in their order as prescribed by the Lord.   Will the Rapture take place this year on Yom Kippur?    As I said earlier, it is very possible, but then every day is very possible, and only God really knows.

1Co 15:22 “In Adam all of us die. And in the same way, in Christ all of us will be made alive again”. v:23 “But everyone will be raised to life in the right order. Christ was first to be raised. Then, when Christ comes again, those who belong to him will be raised to life.”

What shall I say then? “Keep Looking Up Every Day.”  Keep believing, keep the faith.   If it doesn’t happen today, it could happen tomorrow, or on Yom Kippur, or next week, next month or next year, it can happen at any time at all.    Mat 24:44  “So you also must be ready. The Son of Man will come at a time when you don’t expect him.”     Luk 12:40  “So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at a time when you don’t expect him!”
