The following article is being re posted with permission from its author, Joel Joseph from “The Prophetic Scroll” website. http://www.thepropheticscroll.org/
This is the best article I have seen on eternity from both the True Christian’s perspective, and from the unsaved sinners perspective. It is long, but it is a must read for all people if you want to know from scripture, exactly what you will be doing in a very short time from now. Really exciting, or really frightening, depending on your spiritual standing with God when you stand before Him very soon! Christians please note – Ezek 3:18 When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.
God Bless you all, Lex Cullen. Now please read Joel’s Article very carefully!!!
Looking back from eternity! — by Joel Joseph
When people go away on holiday, they normally do so in excited anticipation. They think ahead of what their trip will entail. That’s the idea of this edition. It is the great déjà vu! But this is very real and irreversible. This will lead you to plan ahead!
The big thing here is that once we step into eternity, our position is signed, sealed and delivered. There is no going back to change or fix things. There will be no repentance allowed. It’s final!
Now please join me in imagining what the future holds for you. Imagine that we are there already, and we now are looking back to the times of our lives on earth.
My prayer for you is that you see the gravity, severity, importance and great potential of these things and make the necessary changes and adjustments now before it’s too late.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 “He has put eternity in the hearts of man.”
Judgement, your great friend:
God’s judgement judges! It condemns and purifies. It cleans out sin. It leads to repentance now. It creates a new world of purity and holiness. It makes us right with God.
We have been judged for sin on the cross of Calvary. We take up our own cross of judgement upon ongoing sin in our lives – daily. We are free. What a great friend we have in the cross of Messiah.
We will soon be judged at the “judgement seat of Messiah” for the works we did in response to God’s call and leading. This judgement seat is essentially a reward seat. These rewards we receive are eternal. They set our eternal state with God. This judgement seat is fearful, but a great “friend”.
The unsaved world has no such friend. To them, coming judgement is a terror. They have no cross of salvation, and no daily cross, to clean them up as they go. They have no promised assessment of their works for reward!
We fear the Lord with a cross, which removes all terror from us and gives us confidence. The unsaved have no cross. They will fear the Lord in absolute terror, full of their unforgiven sin.
Psalm 96:11-13 “Heaven and earth rejoice, because He has come to judge the world.”
The things that lie ahead for the true believer are beyond our imagining in wonder, majesty and glory. But that’s all after judgement has cleansed us and the universe forever.
We know very little about what’s out there. Many great, but stupid philosophies and presumptions rule the day about the universe and eternity.
The Bible gives hints at some of what lies out there. There are others worlds with life on them. There is a real place called heaven. The expanse of the universe is unknowable. There is more incredible wonder and beauty out there than we can imagine.
We will be supernatural beings able to materialise and dematerialise at will, and travel at the speed of thought throughout the universe.
Here is the shocker:
The Bible declares that we will rule and reign with our Lord forever. We will “inherit all things.” We will know everything there is to know!
The rule and reign will be on the earth in the Millennium, but it will not be limited to that. We may well be ruling and reigning in the entire universe too.
The demise of sin:
The sin of the world has already been removed through the cross of Calvary, but its effects still linger, because its author and god, Satan is still to see his demise completed.
Psalm 103:12 “As far as the east is from the west, so far He has removed our transgressions from us.”
In other words, our sins are forever gone, never to be seen again!
Colossians 2:18 “Let no one defraud you of your reward.”
We must beware of the seducing power of the world. It nullifies our rewards and damages us severely. One of Paul’s faithful co-workers, Demas, left him and went back into the world, because he secretly “loved this present age.” (2 Timothy 4:9-10)
The spirit of the world, which contains the spirit of error, ridicules the things of God, neutralises sin, mocks righteousness, and denies judgement to come. It exalts and glorifies man now. It focuses on the temporary and material world. “Me now” is the world’s slogan.
The Spirit of God at work in us, which is the Spirit of truth, convicts of sin, righteousness and judgement to come. (John 16:8) It exalts and glorifies God. It focuses on the eternal.
More and more, what the Bible defines as sin is now being legitimised by the world, but it will not last for much longer.
Today there is no guilt in sin. It has been neutralised. There is no shame in sin anymore. So, the unsaved think that they have no need to repent!
The sinner must be made to know and feel helpless and condemned under the weight of sin. It is the preaching of the law that identifies sin and causes guilt.
Romans 3:19 “…Every mouth may be stopped (by the preaching of the law) and all the world may become guilty before God.”
●The law defines what sin is and what holiness is. It points the way, as a schoolmaster, to the answer, which is the law of life in Messiah.
●The world redefines sin as normal, and holiness as obedience to the world! It points the way as a schoolmaster, to its answer – Satan and hell.
We will differ from one another in brightness, as the stars differ from each other. (1 Corinthians 15:41) That annihilates the philosophy of eternal equality. Yes, we will all be equal in terms of foundation, but what we build on our foundations will be totally different.
Many believers, at the judgement seat, will “suffer loss of rewards.” (1 Corinthians 3:15) They will still be saved, but due to them being turkeys all their lives, they will have no reward. Likewise those who die just after being saved, will have no reward, but will be saved.
The next time you look up at the stars, just remember that you are looking at what believers will be like forever, in terms of their reward state! So, do you think it’s important?
All sin will be gone, but it’s inconceivable that we will not know for what we suffered loss of reward. So there will be great regret and sorrow. That won’t last for five minutes though!
Isaiah 65:17 “Behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.”
Salvation with no rewards will still be beyond imagination in glory, but what is coming for those who were obedient to our Lord’s word in this life, is beyond the limitations of language.
The eternal rule, reign and magnificent state:
This verse below is the envy of every government in the world. It is the envy of the mass media. It is the envy of all the one-worlders!
Isaiah 9:6-7 “The government will be upon His shoulders… Of the increase of His government and peace, there will be no end…”
What follows is a description of the some of the biblical factors of the eternal state, I have put together for your benefit:
●Nothing runs down or gets old. ●There will be no sin and evil. ●Everything will be pure, holy and clean. ●There will be full, perfect knowledge of all things. ●We will co-reign in the universe with our Lord. ●There will be perfect environment. ●Those who were humble before God will now be fully exalted. ●The transition between the natural state and spiritual will be at will, instant and immediate. ●We will be fully supernatural beings. ●There will be hosts of angels all around, and heavenly beings of incredible magnificence – glorious creatures beyond imagination.
●There will be no more tears. (Revelation 20:4) ●There will be no more death. (Revelation 21:4) ●There will be no more pain or sorrow. (Revelation 21:4) ●All things (including environment) will be new. (Revelation 20:5) ●The saints (all true believers) will inherit all things. (Revelation 21:7) ●There will be no more curse. (Revelation 22:3, Romans 8:18-23) ●Former things will not be remembered (Isaiah 65:17, Revelation 21:4) ●There will be no decay or corruption (Romans 8:21)
●There will be no rejection, loneliness, failure, fear, stress, or any psychological ailments.
We are about to participate in the final consummation of the age and receive the final stage of our salvation – a glorified resurrected body. We are now exiles in this world. We are the doorstep of the end of this evil age. We have been invited to a wedding to put all weddings to utter shame.
Philippians 3:21 “He will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body.”
Daniel 7:18 “The saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever and ever.”
The great regret of those in hell:
If unsaved, when you look around hell, you will ask, “Where are my friends, family and loved ones”? Your unsaved friends and family will be there. They will be waiting for you. Suddenly, they will appear. You will be able to commiserate in tearful regret with them all.
Here is a most shocking verse:
Isaiah 14:9 “Hell from beneath is excited about you, to meet you at your coming. It stirs up the chief ones of the earth and the kings of the nations.”
Note that many of the world’s leaders will be there too!
Regret, bitterness, gnashing of teeth, and deep distress will rule! Anguish, heartache heartbreak, weeping, wailing and lamenting – but all too late for repentance.
The residents of hell will look back and say: “If only we had listened to the preacher”. “If only we had not listened to the mass-media”. “If only we had not trusted the opinions of us all.”
Hell is real. It is the place of eternal punishment for demons, fallen angels and unsaved humans. It is referred to as the place of eternal torment, which will involve pain and suffering. There will be different degrees of this suffering.
Matthew 25:46 “These will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
Matthew 10:28 “Do not fear those that can kill the body, but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”
Matthew 13: 49-50 “At the end of the age, the angels will separate the wicked from among the just and cast them into the furnace of fire. There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
Psalm 9:17 “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.”
Jude 1:7 “As Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, who gave themselves over to sexual immorality and went after strange flesh, suffer the vengeance of eternal fire.”
2 Corinthians 7:10 “Godly sorrow produces repentance, to salvation, not to be regretted, but the sorrow of the world produces death.”
Hell is forever!
The torment of Babylon (world-system) endures forever. (Revelation 19:3) The torment of the devil also lasts forever. (Revelation 20:10)This is why Satan wants to prolong this age. When it ends his torment begins!
●Eternal judgement, which includes hell, is one of the foundational doctrines of Messiah. (Hebrews 6:2) How can you remove a major foundation stone from your “building” and expect to endure?
If you, as a believer are ready to give up…Don’t.
Numbers 14:4 “Let us now appoint a leader and return to Egypt.” (This was after the Exodus!)
The great relief of those in heaven:
If saved, as you look around, you will ask, “Where are my friends, family and loved ones”? Suddenly you see them, but many will not be here. There will be great joy, relief, release, peace, rest and great reunion. We will all be shocked to find some who we thought would never be saved, here in heaven.
Saved Jews will look back in shock at the fact that they were blinded to their Messiah who took away their sins, and it was not law-keeping that saved them. Perhaps that is why the Bible is so full of the most incredible parables, descriptions and joyful emotion about their coming salvation.
2 Corinthians 5:17 “If anyone is in Messiah, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new.”
We will look back and be so thankful for the grace of God that led us to salvation. We will be so thankful for those who taught us well, and led us to this place of great reward. We will see that angles were our invisible companions on earth. They will now be with us in reality.
We will see that it was the hand of God leading us protecting us and guiding us.
We will see exactly who it was that we thought were men of God, but were the devil’s disciples trying to leads us astray. We will see exactly what false doctrine was.
We will see exactly what a dangerous mine-field the world was through which we walked. We will see its judgement and final end.
2 Peter 1:4 “Exceedingly great and precious promises have made us partakers of the divine nature, escaping the corruption in the world through lust.”
We will see those at the Great White Throne Judgement of God, the unsaved who were our friends, colleagues and family as they are condemned to hell. (Revelation 20:11-15)
“Many people, if permitted to speak on judgement day would curse you for leading them to hell, by your worldly lifestyle”. – Charles Finny – 250 years ago!
Bear in mind that you will meet the people that you were entrusted with or had dealings with here on earth in their judgement.
Psalm 17:15 “As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness. I shall be satisfied, when I awake in Your likeness.”
1 Corinthians 2:9 “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
Think about these things:
You can change your thinking. How much of eternity do you think about? When you train you mind to think about right things and cast down evil imaginations, you are on the right course.
There is a wonderful thing about getting old. The Bible aligns age with wisdom. But as everything else starts to run down, grace at work turns your attention to eternity! Old age weans us from the temporal realm to the eternal – which is all very good!
The tragedy is to get old disgracefully!
To those Christians who have lost a child in death, here is a word of encouragement. Job lost everything. God gave back to him all he had lost, except his departed children. They, in fact were never lost! You will meet them again!
1 Corinthians 15:55 “O death where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory.”
If you are a Christian woman who has had an abortion, and now regrets it, you must repent, but you will meet your unborn child again, and be united in glory, where there is no sin or guilt.
What you must do:
Colossians 3:2 “Set you mind on things above, not on things of this earth, for you died and your life is hidden with Messiah.”
2 Peter 3:11 “Since all these things will be dissolved (world), what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness.”
Philippians 3:14-15 “I press towards the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Yeshua the Messiah…Have this mind in you.”
Job 17:9 “The righteous will hold to his ways, and he who has clean hands will grow stronger and stronger.”
Salvation is not a patched up old life. It is death of the old and new birth and resulting life. Our lives are of supreme value when we go God’s way. The best way to love your life is to lose it, so that pure godly, resurrection life comes through.
In all these things we should have an attitude of real gratitude and thankfulness for every breath we take and everything we have! When last did you thank the Lord for the water you drink?
We will soon be in His presence. Many who think they will be there won’t.
The source of holiness, strength, power and the knowledge of sin is the knowledge of God.
God comes with pardon and a sword! Our Lord is a Lamb and also a Lion. The truth contains goodness and severity, mercy and judgement. The message is: Heaven and hell repent or perish!
Too many ministries today give the impression that God loves the sinner so much that they have nothing to fear at all and no radical change is needed.
God will make you what no man, institution of learning, or church can do, if you go His way.
In His presence is life forevermore, light, sight, revelation, understanding, knowledge, wisdom, strength, power, peace, rest, fullness of joy, blessing and victory.
