In my last Post, I mentioned how Dr J R Church from Prophecy in the News some years ago, had said that he felt that Pentecost could also be a possible time for the Rapture. It was still spring time in Israel, and with all the feasts from Passover, Unleavened Bread, and First Fruits, etc. being a very busy time in their calendar, very few people got married, so after the feasts, there was a boom in marriage celebrations around Shavuot (Pentecost).
I also mentioned that Pentecost is looked on as being the birthday of the Church, so why not celebrate the Church’s birthday by a surprise visit to get your Bride to be?
At this point, I offer the following facts for you to consider very carefully –
- Enoch was born on Pentecost – 6 th of Sivan
- Enoch was also translated (raptured) to heaven on Pentecost – 6 th of Sivan.
- The church was officially born on the day of Pentecost – with the empowerment of the Holy Ghost. – 6 th of Sivan.
Enoch has always been regarded by the majority of Theologians as a TYPE of the CHURCH. In light of these facts it is not difficult to see and understand, that if Enoch as a type of the Church was born AND raptured on Pentecost, and if the church was also born on Pentecost, it is highly likely that the Church could also be raptured on Pentecost. I believe this is certainly worth considering. I feel this could possibly be more important, and maybe, more urgent, than we may think.
I know that it is becoming widely accepted or believed that the rapture will occur on the Feast of Trumpets, and I am NOT saying that it won’t be, what I am saying is that Pentecost is another strong contender which we must consider. Pentecost Sunday this year falls on 4th of June 2017.
I want to share some more reasons for you to consider why Pentecost seems to fit the Biblical evidence for the Rapture.
As I have already said, it is acknowledged by bible scholars, that Enoch is a type of those who will be caught up or translated at the rapture of the church, meaning the “TRUE CHRISTIANS” an event we believe could happen at any moment.
People in many churches today scoff at this teaching just as those living in Enoch’s day scoffed at him. Sadly, many Churches may not notice much of a drop in attendance after the Rapture, because of unbelief, and because they were asleep when they should have been watching and waiting. We are warned over and over in scripture, that although many are called, only a few are chosen.
“1Th 5:4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. v:5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. v:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober”
When the Bridegroom opens the door of Heaven in Revelation 4:1 – the True Believers will be caught up, as Enoch was so long ago! We call this translation the doctrine of the Rapture of the Church! Enoch walked with God and God took him. The writer of Hebrews tells us a bit more about Enoch saying he “pleased God,” and was not found because God TRANSLATED him! —– We who walk with God in truth, and who are pleasing to God, will also be translated in the same way as Enoch was.
GOD COMMANDED ISRAEL -:
Exod 23:14 “THREE TIMES you shall keep a feast to Me in the year:
Exod 23:15 You shall keep the (1.) FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD (you shall eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month of Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt; none shall appear before Me empty); Exod 23:16 (2.) FEAST OF HARVEST, the firstfruits of your labours which you have sown in the field;
(3.) FEAST OF INGATHERING (Sukkot – Feast of Tabernacles) at the end of the year, when you have gathered in the fruit of your labours from the field.
Exod 23:17 “THREE TIMES in the year all your males shall appear before the Lord GOD.
THREE FEASTS — THREE HARVESTS. PLEASE NOTE -:
FEAST OF FIRSTFRUITS celebrated at the time of the Passover included the first fruits of the BARLEY harvest. Who does the BARLEY represent? Barley represents the “True Believers” of the OLD TESTAMENT who were raised with JESUS, (already translated and in Heaven) they were seen in Jerusalem. Matt 27:52 “and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; v:53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.”
FEAST OF WEEKS – in celebration of the first fruits of the WHEAT harvest, — Who does the WHEAT represent? The “TRUE BELIEVERS” of the Church age. Jesus said in John 4:35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! ” Jesus pointed out, that the Firstfruits were already ripe, the main harvest would come four months later. Don’t wait for the main harvest.
Besides being called the Feast of Weeks in Leviticus 23 this special feast celebration is called the “Day of the Firstfruits” in Numbers 28:26 and the “Feast of Harvest” in Exodus 23:16
Exod 34:22 “And you shall observe the Feast of Weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest. ” Firstfruits is only a very small part of the main harvest, just the first few baskets. The main harvest is not ready.
The feast of Weeks, i.e. PENTECOST, is the ONLY feast where LEAVENED BREAD is used. Lev 23:17 Leaven speaks of sin, and the Church still battles sin until the Rapture. This is another important point to note.
FEAST OF TABERNACLES represents the ingathering of the OLIVE and GRAPE harvests. Who do OLIVES and GRAPES represent? I believe that the OLIVES represent the Jews who come to salvation AFTER the Rapture, and are martyred during the Great Tribulation. In scripture the Olive tree and the Fig tree both represent the nation of Israel.
I believe that the GRAPES represent Gentiles who come to salvation AFTER the Rapture, and are martyred during the Great Tribulation. This feast is NOT A FEAST OF FIRSTFRUITS. This is the great harvest no man can number who have come out of the Great Tribulation. Rev 7:9ff.
The Laodicean Church will be left behind, rejected by our Lord and spat out of His mouth. Many if not most will be part of the main wheat harvest gathered in Rev 7:9 during the tribulation period. These are NOT the Firstfruits.
I quote here Dr Chuck Missler, a Bible Prophecy Exponent for whom I have great respect. He says -:
“Every year there are people studying the Feasts of Moses to determine when the Rapture will take place. They like to hang their hats on things like the sound of the trumpets on Yom Teruah, or on celebrations like the Feast of Tabernacles.
IF the Rapture takes place on a feast day though, the most likely feast is Pentecost, the Feast of Shavuot. Shavuot is celebrated as the birthday of Enoch as well as the traditional date of his rapture. Therefore, if Enoch is a type of the Church caught up to God before the day of Judgment, then Shavuot makes the most likely candidate.” Missler, Dr Chuck. The Rapture: Christianity’s Most Preposterous Belief (Kindle Locations 853-854). Koinonia House. Kindle Edition.
Am I saying the Rapture will happen on this Sunday? NO – NO – NO.
Am I saying the Rapture could happen this Sunday? YES, YES, YES.
I believe the Rapture is VERY, VERY close, it could happen tomorrow, or next week, or next month. I also believe that Pentecost Sunday is a very important day for the Church in every way.
So as I said last week, watch for your Saviour’s return EVERY DAY. Watch eagerly for your bridegroom to come for you, it COULD happen on the Church’s birthday, Pentecost Sunday.
