There are many Pastors and Bible Teachers today who are turning away from the Pre-Tribulation Rapture, and are beginning to teach and preach either Mid Tribulation Rapture, Pre Wrath Rapture, or Post Tribulation Rapture to their congregants and or followers. The reason for this is a lack of understanding of the overall plan of God for man’s redemption.
In this post and maybe in the next couple, I shall look at some of their teachings and give scriptures and my reasons as to why I believe they are incorrect. The reason why they are unable to see God’s overall plan is because they do not believe in “Dispensations”, and without Dispensations” the Bible “Appears” to be contradicting itself all the time. Pre Trib. Rapture is the only doctrine which DOES believe in dispensations, and believes that dispensations are taught in scripture.
Luk 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times ( a set time or season – dispensation) of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
Eph 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might Gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
1Co 9:17 For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.
Heb 1:1 “God, who at various times in different ways spoke in times past ( a past period of time – a dispensation) to the fathers by the prophets, has in the last days spoken to us by His Son…”
Ephesian 1:10 “That in the dispensation of the fullness of times, He might gather together in one all things in Messiah…”
Ephesian 3:2 “Have you heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you.”
The denial of dispensations gives atheists the opportunity to have a ball, accusing the Bible of not being true, and of having lots of contradictions in it, etc. so over the next few posts until I exhaust the subject I shall be comparing the positions of these other eschatological beliefs with the Pre Tribulation beliefs in the light of scripture. What Does The Bible Say?
The reason I say that positions contrary to the Pre Trib Rapture are VERY DANGEROUS, is because I believe it gives people the feeling that there is no hurry, we have still got years yet before the Lord’s return in which to muck around and have a good time before we need to turn to Jesus for salvation. Then they in turn will give the same impression to their children and their teen age young people, their friends and colleagues, “well you can change your mind when you are in the tribulation”. I’m sorry, I believe that will be TOO LATE.
Here then are some of their arguments listed below with my response.
They say :- Pre- tribulation believers are just escapists, Christians afraid of persecution and hard times, who want to escape the terrible times that are soon to come upon the earth.
My response :- Luk 21:36 “Watch therefore, and pray that always you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass (i.e. the tribulation period) and to stand before the Son of Man.” This is God’s perspective. – Worthy to escape!
Speaking for myself, this again shows the DANGER of their position, they are not watching and waiting and praying they might escape, because they don’t believe that Christians can, will or should escape the tribulation period, so they will be caught unawares when it happens years before they expect it to. This may well affect their families and friends also.
They say :- Pre Trib believers are not making preparation for the seven years of starvation and hardship and persecution etc, that are going to take place before Jesus returns. They say that this is dangerous as we will be caught unprepared, and will turn against God because we believe God has misled us into thinking we would be raptured and not have to go through the tribulation period.
My response :- Mat 6:31-33 Don’t worry and ask yourselves, “Will we have anything to eat? Will we have anything to drink? Will we have any clothes to wear?” Only people who don’t know God are always worrying about such things. Your Father in heaven knows that you need all of these. But more than anything else, put God’s work first and do what he wants. Then the other things will be yours as well. Don’t worry about tomorrow. It will take care of itself. You have enough to worry about today. This is God’s perspective.
Speaking for myself, and for the many Pre Trib Christian believers I know, we are all so much in love with the Lord we would never turn against Him under any circumstance. As Paul said, it would be a privilege to share in the sufferings of our Lord. The Church today in the many countries around the world are going through terrible tribulation, and are giving their lives for Jesus, would we be any different? Of course not.
They say :- Jesus is coming back for a bride without spot or wrinkle, and that the church needs to go through tribulation period, in order for God to purify and refine us, and to get rid of the spots and wrinkles, and perfect us.
My response :- Eph_2:8 For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: v9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. This is God’s perspective.
Speaking for myself, their view leaves me asking the question of all the Christians who have passed on before us, did they also go through God’s great tribulation to purify them? Or did they have to go to purgatory to be purified there after they died? If not them, then why us? Is God inconsistent? Their position is clearly contrary to scripture.
1 Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from ALL SIN.
To say we need to go through ANY part of the tribulation period of The Book of Revelation in order to further cleanse and purify us, is to say that Jesus’ death on the cross was insufficient. It says that the blood of Jesus does not completely cleanse and purify us.
Further implications of the Post Trib Rapture position :- To further examine this, we need to understand exactly what the Great Tribulation is. It is “The Day of The Lord”
Isa 13:9 “Behold the Day of the Lord comes, cruel, with both wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate; and He will destroy its sinners from it.”
Eze 30:3 For the day is near, even the day of the LORD is near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the heathen.
Nah 1:2 “He reserves His wrath for HIS ENEMIES.”
Zep_1:18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in The Day of The Lord’s wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
Zep_2:2 Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before The Day of The Lord’s anger come upon you.
1Th 5:9 “For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Joh 3:36 “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
Rom 1:18 “The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.
Eph 5:6 “The wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.”
Rev 6:16& 17 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to survive? This is God’s perspective.
My response :- Very clearly, The Day of the Lord is the “Great Tribulation” as described in The Book of Revelation. Equally as clear is the fact that it is directed at the ungodly, at God’s enemies, and at Israel’s enemies, and that it is “The day of God’s revenge” on all those who have killed His prophets, His Son, His Children, and His chosen people, Israel.
NOWHERE in scripture is there ANY evidence that the Day of The Lord is directed at God’s Children, at The Church, at The Bride of God’s Son.
How absolutely ridiculous to say that God is going to scourge the Bride to be, of His Son Jesus, and treat her as His enemy, in order to purify and cleanse her. The book of Revelation is not for the Church, but for God’s enemies! NOWHERE in scripture does it say the Church will be on earth during the Tribulation Period.
This first part of Dangerous Doctrines has been to lay the foundations for what is coming up, which will contain more condensed responses to the problem. Lots more to come, stay tuned!
