2. “Born Again” – Why ???

John 3:3…Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again”… So what is being  “Born again?”

Well Jesus answered that in verse 5   “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit”

According to Jesus Himself, no one can be a true Christian unless they have been born again, the first birth is  “of water”, that is our flesh is born of our parents.

Everyone is born of water.   When our mother carries us in her body, we are protected from the bumps and knocks our mother receives by a cushion of water which surrounds us and protects us.  This bag of water bursts just prior to our birth and we are then born of water.     So we are all half way there.

To be born again, we must be born of  “The Spirit of God”.  The Bible says before we become born again Christians we are dead in our sin.    After we have been “Born Again” we become alive in our spirit, and this causes us to repent of our sins and turn away from all evil and wrong doing, and we begin to obey the words of our Father in Heaven as given to us in the Bible.

Eph 2:1 “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins”.   Our bodies were alive, doing whatever we wanted to do, but our spirits were dead until we were born again.  We must be born of  God’s Spirit if we want to see the Kingdom of Heaven.    To be “Born Again” means that we are born into God’s family; God is Spirit, and we become part of God’s spiritual family, and he becomes “Our Father” who is in Heaven. He gives us “Salvation, ie Eternal Life”
