Although most people say once you become a Christian you have a free pass into heaven, there are also many eminent scholars who disagree, “Col 3:3 For you died when Christ died, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God,” only those hidden with Christ in God shall be counted worthy to be taken in the Rapture, the “visible” or “nominal” church whose lives were not hidden, will then have to go through a time of testing to see if they are real or not. They back up their arguments with the following, and many other similar verses.
Matt 25ff tells the parable of the ten virgins, five wise and five foolish, and there is a lesson to be learned here. All ten were virgins. All ten had had oil in their lamps. All ten went out to meet the bridegroom. Only half of them made it into the Kingdom. Why? because they ran out of oil. The lamp is synonymous with our life, the oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. Fill your life daily with the Holy Spirit, and do not allow your life to become empty or unclean .
Mat 18:23ff The Servant who was forgiven his massive debt by the King, then turned on those who owed him money and threw them into prison if they couldn’t pay him. When the King found out, he reversed his forgiveness and threw the servant into prison. Always forgive people who hurt you or wrong you by their words or their deeds.
Rev 3:15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! v16 So, because you are lukewarm–neither hot nor cold–I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Get fired up for God, do not let yourself become lukewarm.
Mat 7:20 ff by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven etc.
So what is my answer? Take the safe path, and always stay close to Jesus, that way even if you are wrong, you will still be right.
