Psa 83:1 “O God, don’t sit idly by, silent and inactive! v. 2 Don’t you hear the tumult of your enemies? Don’t you see what your arrogant enemies are doing? v 3 They devise crafty schemes against your people, laying plans against your precious ones. v 4 ‘Come,’ they say, ‘let us wipe out Israel as a nation. We will destroy the very memory of its existence’”. (Led by Ahmadinejad, this has become the war cry of all Muslim nations today, but especially so of those named in this Psalm.)
Psa 83:5 “ This was their unanimous decision. They signed a treaty as allies against you– v 6 The tents of Edom (part of Jordan) and the Ishmaelites (Saudi Arabia); Moab (part of Jordan) , and the Hagrites (also Saudi Arabia); v7 Gebal (part of Jordan) , and Ammon (part of Jordan, and Amalek (Egyptian Sinai); Philistia (Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank) with the inhabitants of Tyre (Lebanon); v 8 Assyria (Syria & Iraq) also has joined with them; They have become a help to the children of Lot (scattered all throughout the Middle East).”
Notice that every nation mentioned here is Muslim today, and in verse 2 the Psalmist calls them God’s enemies. Any enemy of Israel is God’s enemy, because Israel is God’s chosen people, now and forever.
Read the next 10 verses of Psa 83:9–18 to find out what is going to happen to these nations when they finally come against Israel in these last days. This Psalm could very easily be fulfilled this year the way things are shaping up in the area. Syria is desperate to get the Golan Heights back, and the Palestinians will not rest until they have regained all the land of Israel, with Jerusalem as their capital, and have wiped out Israel as a nation. This is the stated aim of all Muslim countries today.
Nobody knows whether the Church will still be here on earth when this war takes place, or whether we will have already been gathered up to the Lord in the Rapture; I guess we will just have to wait and see. From my perspective, the writing is on the wall. Notice that Persia, (Iran) is not mentioned, but Iran’s proxies, Syria, (part of the former Assyria), Hamas (Gaza, previously known as Philistia) and Hezbollah, (formerly Tyre, today a very major player in Lebanon). All are all mentioned by name in this Psalm. I will deal with Persia and her allies in another discourse.
