No 3. What is “The Rapture” and when will it happen?

The Rapture is the expression used by the Church, to describe St. Paul’s statement in 1 Th 4:15-18  “I can tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not rise to meet him ahead of those who are in their graves.  For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the call of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, all the Christians who have died will rise from their graves.  Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever”.

Three things that are certain regarding this time.   No.1.  Mark 13:32 “no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows”.    No.2.  Mat 24:44(b)  “the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him”.    No. 3.  Mat 24:44(a).  “You must be ready all the time”. (See also Mat 24:42, Mat 25:13, Mark 13:33, Mark 13:35, Luke 12:40 , Luke 21:36, 1 Th 5:6,  1 Pet 4:7, Rev 3:3, etc..)

Jesus emphasised the need to watch and to be ready over and over.  Why, because it is very very important.  I find it difficult to believe that Jesus and the Apostles would give us so many warnings to watch and wait,  if this was not really important.   The Jews missed “The Messiah’s ” first coming; it is important that the Church does not miss His coming in the clouds for “His Bride” at the Rapture.

There is no excuse for us, as St Paul said 1 Th 5:4 ” But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.”

When will the Rapture happen?   It will happen when the world least expects it.     But God has given His people many many signs, and all of these signs are warning that the time is close, even at the door, but there will be no warning as to exactly which day it will happen!!!    Watch and wait.
