I believe that as Christians we should be looking for the greatest, most incredible, wonderful, exciting, fantastic, amazing, event of all time to take place very soon. My family remind me that I have been teaching and looking forward to this for 40 years, and I say well its 40 years closer, and I’m 40 years nearer reaching my heart’s desire.
I have spoken to many Christians about this soon coming event, and I am surprised and worried by the number of people who fit the parable Jesus told in Luke 14:16 ff. “A man prepared a great feast and sent out many invitations. When all was ready, he sent his servant around to notify the guests that it was time for them to come. But they all began making excuses.” Today it seems there are a thousand reasons why they are just not quite ready yet.
I think if we were to put ourselves in the shoes of the millions of starving Christians around the world, or those being tortured and murdered for their faith, or even the poor, the blind, the maimed, we would be saying “Come quickly Lord Jesus”.
I want to encourage you. Your Father in Heaven has prepared things for you that will leave all these earthly possessions and desires in the dust. Things we cannot even imagine with our human minds; as the Bible tells us in 1 Cor 2:9 “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”
Forget this world’s trash. Let us get our hearts and minds set on the world to come, hastening unto the day when we shall see Him as He is, and let us pray fervently, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven.”
2 Tim 4:8 “ Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
