No. 5. The world will be desperately seeking peace:

After an estimated death toll of 20,000,000 in World War one, many people in the world began crying out for peace.   In response to that cry for peace, “The League of Nations”  was formed in 1919 -1920.   Their task was simple – to ensure that war never broke out again.     People looked to the League of Nations to bring stability to the world.     Man’s solution to avoid further wars, was to create this international body, whose sole purpose was to maintain world peace, and to sort out international disputes as and when they occurred.    Man’s solution did not work.

World War Two saw the death toll rise dramatically to between 60,000,000  and 70,000,000; triple that of World War One.   The cries for peace became much louder and more insistent, and The United Nations (UN) was created as a result.

The U.N. is an international organisation whose stated aims are to facilitate cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights, and achieving world peace.        Founded in 1945 after World War Two, the United Nations has been an even greater failure than the League of Nations they replaced, as can be seen in my previous blog,  “No. 4. There will be wars all over the globe”.

Today, people from every nation on earth are screaming out for peace at any cost.     Let us hope that cost is not too great.    In 1st Thessalonians 5:3: we are told  “For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.”

In my next blog I shall give you man’s intended action to bring about World peace, and what God thinks about this action.
